This past Saturday, we fished with Recie and Lynn in a fishing tournament. Jeff and I woke up at 3:45 AM. We left Recie and Lynn's by 4:45 and headed to Palacios. We got there and attempted to put the boat in the water. We were doing good! Backed the boat in the water and Lynn tried to start the boat and it did nothing. Come to find out, the batteries were dead!!! So we drove around Palacios looking for a store open at 5:30 in the morning that sold batteries. There were none. Everyone was very nice and helpful around town and tried to get the people that work at NAPA to come help us early. One of the bait shop men even offered to let us borrow one of his batteries. NAPA didn't open until 8:00 on Saturdays. So the picture below shows how we spent the first part of our fishing trip... sitting in the boat in the parking lot of NAPA. There was a donut shop right down the road, so Recie and I walked there and got breakfast tacos. The employees got to the store around 7:45. By the time we got the new batteries, almost all of our live bait was dead, so we had to go get some more.

We got to our fishing spot and Recie caught this trout on her first cast!!!

We high fived and said WOW we are off to a great start!!! That is where our luck ended. We didn't catch any more trout after that. We only caught some gafftop!! We had fun and made more memories!! I got to use my new custom rod that I had recevied for Christmas and Jeff bought me a new reel. The first fish I hooked was a croaker that I foul hooked. Then I hooked a big fish, I had fun trying to reel it in, but it broke the line. Here I am fighting the fish.

Here are a couple of pictures of my rod. I love it!!!!!!! I always wanted a pink fishing pole and I finally got one. Now, I am just waiting for them to come out with pink and purple fishing line.

I guy in El Campo makes these custom rods. Everyone in our family has one. They are awesome!!!
I can't wait to go fishing again. We are taking Juliann on Saturday. She is fishing in the Lil' Salties Tournament.
