Houston Marathon 2012

Last Sunday, Yaya and Papi picked up the girls and I at 6:00 am to head to Houston to watch Uncle Doc run the Houston Marathon. We stopped at Speedy Stop to pick up breakfast tacos then headed to Houston. Our first stop was mile 10 of the marathon. We arrived just as the male leaders were running through. They were sprinting. It was amazing how fast their legs are! This was exciting for me, because it was the first time I had been a spectator at a marathon/half-marathon. The girls were such troopers. They had their signs ready to see Uncle Doc.
Here comes Uncle Doc (in the white shirt).

We stayed at mile ten and got to see Charles run past. Then we were ready to cheer on Father Gary (in the gray shirt behind the guy with black sunglasses).

After mile ten, we headed to the finish line to meet up with Aunt Nikki.

Here comes Uncle Doc towards the finish line. He is right behind the flag in the white shirt. He did so awesome and achieved a personal record, finishing the marathon in 3:26.

We stayed to watch for a while. We were able to see Charles, Father Gary and Susan finish. All the excitement wore Caroline out. We were able to enjoy being spectators while she got a nap in.

Juliann learned how to climb trees with the help of Aunt Nikki!

It was such a wonderful experience. I think I am going to try to see if I get the chance to run next year. After the marathon, we headed to Yaya and Papi's to enjoy some yummy chicken fried steak and spend some more time with Uncle Doc and Aunt Nikki.

We are so proud of Uncle Doc!
