Lil' Salties 2013

The Saturday of Mother's Day weekend, the girls participated in the annual Lil' Salties fishing tournament.  This was Connor's first year to participate and we couldn't wait to all fish together.  We had plans to fish out of the boat in Palacios, but we cancelled that because of the unpredictable weather.  Instead our plan was to go out in Papa's boat.  But, once again, that didn't work out.  Dad went to get his boat out of Larry's boat slip and when he did he found it a mess.  An owl had been leaving dead mice and scat all over the boat.  Therefore, our next option was to fish off the pier at the Marek's.  It was a little chilly, but the kids enjoyed reeling in a few fish.

After fishing, it was time to head to Matagorda for the weigh-in.  Each kid had at least one fish to weigh-in.  They were all gaftop, with one croaker.
Jeff had headed to Matagorda before us to help with the casting contest.  They all tried their luck at casting the cork in the floating squares.

We ate hot dogs for lunch, then it was time for everyone to get their trophy and new fishing pole.  Rylan and Caleb were there too.  They fished in their boat out of Matagorda.

Caleb won second place in his age division.  Way to Go!!

After the tournament, we headed to the beach.  All the kids had a blast playing in the water and sand.  The adults enjoyed the sun and relaxation, too!
