Texas Indepence Relay - Part 2

Saturday afternoon, I ran from Weimar into Borden where I was greeted by my family.  The girls were there to cheer me on and ran with me until I passed the bracelet on.  It was a very special moment.  I am thankful for their grandparents, who brought them out to cheer us on and brought us yummy food.  I have a special photo book that I received, thanks to Bobby, that documents this special part of the run.  After my run, we went into Columbus where the cook crew was awaiting with fabulous burger and goodies.  We are very fortunate to have supportive friends and family that come out to cook for us.

Tyson just handed off to Jeff in downtown Houston.  Jeff was looking forward to this short, fun leg where he gets to run through a monument.  There was only one problem - when Jeff was within a 1/4 to 1/2 mile from the handoff someone told him to run the wrong way.  He ran a couple of extra miles when he was lost.  He ended up on the next leg's course, but he finally found his way to the monument.  We were a little worried about him.  Charles and Bradley went in search of him.  Poor guy also cracked his tooth on the trip and couldn't drink anything cold.

His final destination!

He came back after his leg and ran under the monument!
Uncle Doc cruising on in - fast, as usual.

One of our drivers, Natalie, just hanging out.

Jennifer was excited about running the last leg and couldn't wait to have a refreshing beer when she finished.

The team running with Jennifer during the home stretch.  Although we had to end up walking because our drinks kept spilling.

We finished the run in 31 hours and 6 minutes!
I can't wait to do it again next year - 5 year anniversary!!!
